Tasting Viña El Pisón 1998 twenty years on is a firm reminder that far too many wines are drunk too young

Not that that should be a problem

Excellent quality here in a package that should age well over the next 6 to 8 years

It has a pleasantly chalky frame and a very long finish replete with violet perfume

with notions of ground pepper

Kumeu River, Mates Vineyard Chardonnay other_regions Tasting Viña El Pisón 1998Very rich and serious on the nose nuts, nectarines and honeycomb. A mouth filling vinous palate, with mouth watering acidity and a chalky stony note. It grows in the mouth and gets fuller and fuller but always refreshing with it. Just great concentration of fruit and such length a joyous wine. Not often I would call a wine at this price good value, but this is for sure! GV (AC)
